A: I had been interested in the food industry, and had been eating regularly at an American Deli location close to my workplace. Every time I was there, I noticed that there was always a long line of people waiting to eat at American Deli.

A: After deciding to enter the food industry, I compared several franchise chains. American Deli emerged as the obvious choice because it was accessible to so many people, and also because I enjoyed the food there. Once deciding to go with American Deli, I began to make preparations by saving money, creating a business plan, and managing my credit thoroughly.
Q: Have you been successful so far?
A: I have only been in business for a few years, but in that time my sales have increased by 30%. I am currently laying plans to open a second store.

A: I worked in various jobs, including jobs in the construction industry, while I was waiting on the possibility of settling in the U.S. with an E-2 visa. During that time, I was hired and trained in a retail store and was looking into the prospects of a beauty supply business.

A: There is an American Deli franchise in my work place’s neighborhood. Whenever I would pass by, it seemed very busy with many customers. I initially had no interest in the business, but as time passed, I began to take more and more notice.

A: As my interest in American Deli increased, I began to study about the franchise. I discovered that almost all of the stores were doing well, and I began to inquire about the business because I began to believe that I could also become successful.
Q: What can you share about your customers?
A: During lunch hours, the customers are mainly employees of nearby work places. However, the chief customers that we serve during dinner hours are the families that live in town.

A: It is necessary to make thorough preparations and to have commitment. It is also important to look for and choose a credible partner who can help your business.

A: I studied at the University of Minnesota as an applied economics major.

A: Mr. Chong Chun Kim, the founder of American Deli, is a friend of my father. He introduced Mr. Kim to me because I wanted to start a career in the food service industry after graduation.

A: While working at American Deli as a part time employee, I gained confidence that American Deli had potential to grow. Moreover, Mr. Kim is my role model as a franchise founder, which I want to become in the near future. That vision of growth and the owner's devotion to the company made me decide to join the American Deli franchise.
Q: How would you describe your experience as an American Deli franchise owner?
A: As an owner of an American Deli franchise since 2006, I am very positive that it has a great opportunity to succeed in the fast food restaurant industry because American Deli provides unique food options in their menu that are very competitive and are very easy to make and serve. Also, I have seen that the brand name is growing, spreading out to create franchise stores all over the Southeast.

A: Be confident about what you serve. Once you know and master the menu items we have, you can proudly serve them to your customers. I can clearly tell you that we always satisfy our customers' expectations with such great food.
